The 2016 Rio Olympic Games is less than a week to go, and athletes from the different participating countries are gearing up for that golden dream. Alongside China's largest-ever 416-athlete Olympic delegation, athletes from the United States, the United Kingdom, and Russia, whose origin can be traced back to China, should not be underestimated.

China has traditionally been a dominant force in table tennis. According to China Daily, there will be a total of 172 table tennis players competing in Rio this year - and 39 of them are ethnically Chinese including Singapore's Yu Mengyu and Feng Tianwei, Liu Jia of Austria Austria and 54-year-old Chinese-born He Zhiwen of Spain.
Feng, 29, who is currently ranked as No. 4 in the world, is expected to be the second-seeded player of women's singles event. The 2012 London Games bronze medalist sounded the alarm for the whole Team China following her impressive victory over the reigning world No. 1 Liu Shiwen of China at the Asian Cup final last year in Jaipur, India.
Wang Haoping of Team USA will lead six athletes with five ethnic Chinese players in it. Compared to the London Olympic Games four years ago, he said that he was much more confident, mature and patient.
Badminton's incumbent world's top player Lee Chong Wei of Malaysia has Chinese heritage. The two-time Olympic silver medalist will challenge old rivals Lin Dan and Chen Long of China. The 33-year-old will be chasing for the first gold medal on behalf of his country in what is believed to be his last chance to finish the final mission.
According to China.com, Chinese athletes are also scattered in the events of swimming, weightlifting, and others as well.
The USA's Nathan Adrian is also a Chinese-American swimming athlete. He conquered the men's 100m freestyle in London. He is ranked second in the world over Ning Zetao of China in June.
