Fresh from his takeover last month, new Newcastle Jets owner Martin Lee had recently expressed his desire for closer ties between his home country of China and Australia when it comes to the sport of football.
It is not a secret that China is on its way of trying to establish itself as one of the world superpowers of the sport these past few years after Chinese president Xi Jinping called all of the country's football stakeholders to join forces with him in making his vision a reality.

The president reportedly wants to host and win the FIFA World Cup on or before the year 2020 and Chinese football clubs, especially the ones in the first-tier Chinese Super League, are heavily investing for the development of the sport recently.
Aside from luring big-name players from Europe and South America, Chinese investors are also currently buying majority stakes in major football clubs all around the world, such as Manchester City, Inter Milan, AC Milan, and West Bromwich Albion.
Lee, also the CEO and President of Chinese firm Ledman, spearheaded the 100 percent takeover of the A-League side last month and is said to be satisfied about the outcome so far.
"China and Australia are close partners, and are relatively complementary," said Lee, as per ESPN. "Football is a significant link, and Newcastle Jets will be an essential carrier not only to promote the cultural, sports and tourism communication between the two countries, but also the same with Newcastle and Shenzhen as cities. This acquisition will cause great chemical reactions both for China and Australia."
Meanwhile, Jets manager Scott Miller is also happy about the stability brought about by the new ownership, via the Newcastle Herald.
He told reporters before their upcoming FFA Cup meeting with Melbourne Victory that although they are "a very similar situation to last year" with their available players, they "got the stability of the new owner" this time around, which could only mean good things for the club in the long term.
