Australia international James Troisi had recently rejoined his old A-League club Melbourne Victory after he was waived by Chinese Super League team Liaoning Whowin following the Northeast Tigers' acquisition of his compatriot Dario Vidosic this summer.
ESPN noted that Troisi was signed by Victory on a one-year contract and is expected to give the Victoria giants "a major boost" when the new season starts this October.

The 28-year-old midfielder was rumored to be courted by several Australian top flight clubs after he was released in China, but he chose to join the Melbourne outfit. When asked why he did so, Troisi's simple reply was "I was comfortable on and off the pitch".
"I really enjoyed myself and when you enjoy yourself and you're physically being looked after, you'll play your best football," he added.
The 5-foot-11 Rose Park, South Australia native also disclosed that he was offered by head coach Kevin Muscat to play his fancied no. 10 position, which was left available by Brazilian Guilherme Finkler, who transferred to Wellington Phoenix at the end of last season, as per The Guardian.
Troisi had previously suited up for Victory during the 2013-2014 season when he was sent on loan by his then mother club Atalanta. He top scored for the club during that time but "fell just short of an A-League Grand Final berth and Asian Champions League progression", the report said.
Troisi had struggled in his China stint due to recurring ankle injuries and lack of playing time as he appeared in only nine games in the past year and two months. He is said to be keen on playing his best football back in his home country.
"It's fantastic to be back, there's a good bunch of boys here," said Troisi. "I can't wait to show the fans what I can do again. We'll definitely push for the title again this season."
