Anhui Wenyi Inch Close to Semifinals of Chinese National Basketball League

After suffering from a stunning opening loss against the seventh-seeded Jiangsu Hualan in the Chinese National Basketball League series, the league's second-best club Anhui Wenyi is now one game away from advancing to the semifinal round.

Anhui dominated Hualan with an imposing 36-point margin 126-90 victory in Game 3 of their best-of-five quarterfinal series on Sunday. The win gave the team a commanding 2-1 lead, and a win on Wednesday would mean a final four showdown against Henan Shedian Laojiu.

According to Asia-Basket, former Washington Wizards player Chris Singleton led the winning team with a remarkable performance of 31 huge points and six rebounds along with three assists. Fellow American reinforcement Manny Harris finished the game with 26 points, eight boards, and seven assists.

Chinese guard Yonggang Zhang contributed 16 points and pulled down four rebounds while back-up guard Yansong Ma added 11 markers and three boards. Wenbo Yang and Kai Ren both chipped in 10 points apiece for the victors.

According to NowGoal, Anhui began the game with a strong start pounding Hualan with a 44-28 run in the opening quarter and continued its offensive attacks in the second period with another 29-20 charge to cap the first half of the game with a comfortable 25-point advantage 73-48.

In the third period, the winning team kept up their shooting spree and buried Hualan in a 30-point deficit after a 25-20 third quarter outburst. In the final twelve minutes of the match, Anhui sealed the victory with another 28-22 run.

Foreign reinforcement Wendell McKines paced Hualan with 32 points while Craig Brackins had 17 markers.
