The veteran 6-foot-3 inches tall American point guard is not a new comer to the Chinese league. He played for the Tianjin Ronggang in the 2014-15 CBA season before retuning to China in the following season to play for the Sturgeon registering an impressive 25.6 points, 6.4 boards, 5.7 dimes and 2.2 steals in 42.0 minutes of playing time per contest in the 38 games that he played.  Buycks led Fujian to a 13th-place finish, winning 16 games and losing 22 matches.

Buycks played college basketball for the Marquette Golden Eagles from 2009 to 2011. In his final season with the varsity team, he appeared in 36 games while averaging 8.8 points, 3.4 assists, 3.1 rebounds and 1.1 steals in 28.1 minutes of action in the hard wood.

He went undrafted in the 2011 NBA Draft, but was able to play for the Toronto Raptors in the league's 2013-14 season after playing in the NBA Developmental League and in some basketball leagues overseas.

According to the official website of the NBA, Buycks played 14 games with the Raptors posting averages of 3.1 points and 1.6 rebounds in 10.4 minutes of playing time. In the following season, he had a short stint with the Los Angeles Lakers, appearing in six official games and registering an average of 8.7 points per outing.
