Chinese tech giant Huawei has finally dipped its toes into the South Korean personal computer market with the launch of the company's 2-in-1 MateBook. The device was launched on Wednesday and Huawei revealed that the MateBook would be available for purchase in South Korea starting Thursday.
With Huawei's entry into the South Korean PC market, the company is essentially knocking on the doors of local giants like Samsung and LG. With the PC market's continuous deterioration, Huawei's entry will pose a big threat to Samsung and LG's hold of the industry.

The Huawei MateBook is a hybrid device that can be used both as a laptop or a tablet PC. The entry level model of the MateBook packs 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage space. Higher end models pack 8GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage space.
Powering the Huawei MateBook is a sixth-generation Intel Core M chip which is known for its low power requirement. The processor does not need a fan to be cooled, making the MateBook a very silent device.
The entry level model of the Huawei MateBook is expected to have a price tag of $813. The device also supports peripherals like an external physical keyboard and drawing pen, both of which are sold separately.
Despites is massive global scope, Huawei is yet to make a significant impact in the Korean market. Tech analysts have attributed this to the success of local homegrown brands like Samsung and LG.
