‘Counter-Strike-Global Offensive’ is Finally Coming to China

(Photo : YouTube) “Counter-Strike: Global Offensive” is finally coming to China following a deal between Perfect World and Valve.

Popular team-based multiplayer shooter game "Counter-Strike: Global Offensive" is finally coming to China. Chinese game developer and operator Perfect World announced that it has reached an agreement with the developer and publisher of "Counter-Strike: Global Offensive," Valve, that will allow it to be the exclusive distributor of the game in China.

Perfect World President Zhang Yunfan said that the current market for e-sports is growing, hence the decision to license one of the biggest e-sports titles in the world.

"Counter-Strike: Global Offensive" (also known as CS:GO) is a well-established game in the e-sports industry. According to Giz China, CS:GO is the second collaboration between Perfect World and Valve following a previous arrangement that brought "Dota 2" to China.

In a statement acquired by HLTV, Perfect World president Zhang Yunfan said, "Perfect World will spare no effort no promote CS:GO in China and further optimize the player's gaming experience."

Since the start of the year, China has hosted several CS:GO tournaments. The most recent was the Pro Gamer League Summer final which had a total prize pool of $100,000. The event was won by Epsilon.

Nanjing is scheduled to host the upcoming SL i-League StarSeries Season 2 in September. The tournament will bring together 16 of the best CS:GO teams from all over the world.

Perfect World is aiming to promote CS:GO in China now that the company has signed a deal with Valve. Perfect World said that it would focus on establishing major events for the game. The company said that it is open to collaborations with third-party companies to promote not only CS:GO but also e-sports in general.
