One of the most interesting devices in Xiaomi's lineup is the Mi Note, and it has been quite a while since the series had a major upgrade. Now, there are rumors that the Chinese smartphone manufacturer is gearing to release a new smartphone dubbed as the Xiaomi Mi Note 2.

A handful of leaks have pointed to the existence of the Xiaomi Mi Note 2, despite the fact that the company has kept silent about it. If the rumors are true, the Mi Note 2 will be released Sept. 5.

The Xiaomi Mi 2 is expected to come with a dual camera setup, a trend Xiaomi tested with the Redmi Pro. Just like most premium handsets on the market, the Mi 2 is also rumored to sport a curved screen. According to GSM Arena, the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 is expected to have a 5.7-inch Super AMOLED screen with 2K display. There are rumors that a lower model with a Full HD display will be available as well.

Under the hood, the premium model of the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 is expected to sport a Snapdragon 821 chipset with 6GB of memory and 128GB of storage space. The entry level model is expected to sport a Snapdragon 820 chipset with 4GB of memory and 64GB of storage space. Both models will have a 3600mAh battery pack.

The premium model of the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 is expected to have a price tag of around $524, while the entry-level model is expected to cost around $375, according to Giz China.
