Samsung has confirmed it will release a different variant of its latest flagship Samsung Galaxy Note 7 smartphone in China.

"It is true that we are reviewing the rollout of a new tablet with 128 GB built-in memory in China because Chinese companies are aggressively doing marketing with high-capacity memory," Koh Dong-jin, Samsung's president of mobile business, told The Korea Herald. "We will accept diverse opinions from various regions and also consider whether that move will disappoint Korean customers."

Samsung is facing competitive pressure from local Chinese brands like Huawei and Xiaomi who are throwing much hardware in the pipeline. To compete, the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 variant made for China will feature 6GB of RAM. Furthermore, its internal storage is128GB.

With no other specific details out yet, Android Headlines hinted that aside from the RAM and on-board stage, the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 made for the Chinese market could have similar hardware specs as the variant released worldwide.

The upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 7 is likely to sport the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 system-on-chip or the Exynos 8890 chipset, a micro-SD memory card slot that allows an added 256 GB of external memory, a 12-megapixel camera featuring an f/1.7 aperture and 1/2.5 inch sensor, a 5-megapixel front-facing sensor, a fingerprint scanner in the home button, and the cutting-edge iris scanning technology that is dubbed as the "safest security technology" so far.

The price of the upcoming unit is yet to be announced yet. However, there are rumors that the upcoming China variant of the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 will carry a price tag of $914 in China, while the Galaxy Note 7 with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage will cost $899 in Korea.
