During a press conference Wednesday night at the Church Street site of the hospital, Devlin told reporters that Ford's condition is still being closely monitored and that he will undergo a biopsy to verify the type of tumor.
According to Devlin, the mayor has been complaining about an abdominal pain for months, before finally being admitted on Wednesday when the pain became "unbearable."
The doctor confirmed that the tumor was not "small," but further tests need to be done in order to make a treatment plan.
Councilor Doug Ford, the mayor's brother said Ford went to see his physician early Wednesday after experiencing severe pain in his abdomen during breakfast the same day.
When asked about how the diagnosis will affect his brother's candidacy, Coun. Ford refused to comment.
The councilor also refused to comment when reporters asked him whether he was willing to takes his brother's seat in the mayoral race, adding that he would discuss the matter in the coming days.
Doug Ford added that his brother was "positive and in good spirits."
Meanwhile, in a statement released by Ford's contender for the mayoral seat, John Tory, he said his thoughts are with the Ford family.
According to Tory's statement on Wednesday night, he wishes to see the Mayor back in good health, adding that although they may be often seen debating, they were still human beings.
Besides Tory, fellow mayoral hopeful Olivia Chow, expressed her sympathy to the situation that Ford's family is in, urging Ford to stay strong and focus on getting well.
