Middling teams Chongqing Lifan FC (7-9-6, 27 points) and Guangzhou R&F FC (8-9-5, 29 points) are set to take on one another at the Chongqing Olympic Sports Center on August 21, Sunday for a 2016 Chinese Super League season encounter.

Chongqing Lifan is currently at 10th place in the China top flight standings after alternately losing and winning their last six matches.

The team is coming off a 2-1 victory over capital city squad Beijing Guoan FC on the road at the Workers' Stadium on Aug. 12, as per Soccerway.

Local attacking midfielder Wang Dong scored the first goal of the contest with a penalty kick at the 30th minute following a foul from Beijing defender Lei Tenglong.

Newly-signed Brazilian striker Alan Kardec then doubled the lead nine minutes later with a shot to the net of opposing keeper Yang Zhi off a pass from compatriot Fernandinho.

The Imperial Guards managed to score a consolation goal, though, with an 81st-minute strike from Turkish import Burak Yilmaz, but it was all the hosts can do to respond to Chongqing's performance in the game.

Meanwhile, Guangzhou R&F extended their winless skid to two games after dropping a 1-2 game to lowly team Shandong Luneng Taishan FC at their home ground of Yuexiushan Stadium last Sunday, the South China Morning Post reported.

The Blue Lions actually started the scoring with a brilliant goal from Brazilian winger Renatinho after receiving an accurate cross from Israeli forward Eran Zahavi at the 32nd minute.

However, the game was immediately equalized by Argentine midfielder Walter Montillo off a pass from Italian star Graziano Pellè to make it a 1-1 count at the half.

Guangzhou relinquished the tie as Montillo assisted to local midfielder Liu Binbin at the 63rd, which proved to be the game-winner, to hand the hosts their second straight winless performance.

The predicted result is a 2-1 bounce back win for Guangzhou R&F.
