China on Thursday urged India to take steps to reinforce peace and stability in the Sino-India border region, following a report that the Indian government plans to deploy advanced ballistic cruise missiles to the disputed state of Arunachal Pradesh.
"We hope the Indian side can do more for peace and stability in the border region..... To maintain peace and stability along the India-China border is an important consensus reached by the two sides," China's Defence Ministry spokesman Colonel Wu Qian said.

The Hindu reported that Col. Wu's remarks comes after India's Army shrugged off a warning issued by a China's state-owned newspaper earlier this week. India's Amy said that China should not interfere in India's internal matter after the PLA Daily warned that the deployment of BrahMos missiles exceeds India's defense needs and poses a serious threat to Tibet and Yunnan.
India has been scaling its military presence in the border region of Arunachal Pradesh. The decision to deploy BrahMos missiles came just weeks after India commissioned an airfield in Pasighat town, Arunachal Pradesh, located barely 100 kms from the Indo-china border.
Arunachal Pradesh is one many point of contention between India and China. Beijing maintains that Arunachal Pradesh is a part of Southern Tibet and hence is a de facto part of China.
India and China are also at loggerheads over the Ladakh border and the disputed state of Kashmir. India's hostile neighbor and China's close ally Pakistan is also an important party to the Kashmir dispute.
