Chui Sai, the chief executive of Macau Special Administrative Region, stated during a ceremony held at the Macau East Asian Games Dome that the visit of mainland China's blue-chip athletes to their region would allow locals to have a close look at the Olympians and gain better understanding of the efforts the elite athletes have put into their work.
Macau has made a lot of progress in competitive sports and mass sports since its return to China. The arrival of the delegation is expected to ignite Macao's enthusiasm and promote the development of local sports, Chui said, according to China Daily.
The delegation of mainland Olympians will attend "A date with the youth" activity to share the joys and pains of their training and competition on Tuesday morning.
The Olympians would go to six different communities to speak with locals and display their sporting skills on Wednesday.
China, which sent its biggest Olympic contingent to the Rio Games, won 26 gold, 18 silver and 26 bronze medals finishing third overall in the medal standings behind the United States and Great Britain.
