Shanghai SIPG striker Asamoah Gyan had reportedly decided to join reigning UAE Pro-League champions Al-Ahli Dubai FC on a one-year loan deal on Thursday.
The 30-year-old Ghana national team captain had been lacking first-team time with the Red Eagles under head coach Sven-Göran Eriksson this season due to recurring injuries and have only appeared in 10 games in the Chinese first division domestic league so far, scoring only three goals.

However, the arrival of Chinese transfer record-breaking £45million signee Hulk last June rumored to have demoted Gyan to the reserve squad of the Chinese Super League club, which prompted him to look for opportunities elsewhere.
Shanghai Daily reported that the Accra, Ghana native is joining "UAE side Al Ahli on a one-year loan" as he had chosen to leave SIPG this season.
"Arabian Gulf League (AGL) champions Al Ahli have strengthened their attack with the acquisition of former Al Ain striker Asamoah Gyan. The 30-year-old has returned to the UAE, on a one-year loan deal, just 12 months after signing from Chinese Super League outfit Shanghai SIPG," a write-up on Gyan's official website said.
Al-Ahli was the arch-rival of Al Ain, Gyan's former team where he spent four seasons before signing with SIPG last summer.
The Ghanaian forward has been linked to several clubs in England such as West Ham United, Sunderland, Hull City, and Fulham, as well as to Turkish side Besiktas during the summer.
Lately, Football League Championship team Reading FC is said to be interested in Gyan and reports said that he is already in Berkshire for a medical with the squad.
However, rumors went out that Gyan failed Reading's medical and so he was forced to accept Al-Ahli's offer instead, which was utterly denied by the striker, according to Goal.
"Lies, lies, lies," said Gyan in his social media account.
Gyan is still playing for the Ghana national squad as its team captain. He is the Black Stars all-time leading scorer with 48 goals in 95 appearances.
