An 18-year-old has been identified by Chinese authorities as the mastermind behind the murder of Juma Tayir, the state media Xinjiang Daily reported on Monday. Investigators reveal that the suspect was strongly motivated by religious extremism and used these ideologies to plot and push through with the plan to kill the state-appointed imam of China's largest mosque. In addition, the 18-year-old was said to have utilized 'terrorist videos' and other multimedia materials to persuade followers into taking part in the slaying of the known pro-government Muslim leader.
Baby Dies After "Wrestling" Match With Caregiver

A child caregiver from Bronx was charged with manslaughter and endangering the welfare of a child in connection with the death of a 20-month-old boy under her care. Police revealed that the woman admitted to having "wrestled" with the victim before the infant succumbed to the injuries he incurred from the incident. The New York City medical examiner's office ruled the death of the boy as homicide late Saturday. This ruling was substantiated by the blunt force trauma detected in the victim's head and torso. The suspect was then arraigned in Bronx Criminal Court and remanded into custody on Sunday.

The parents of a 13-year-old girl from Dinwiddie County in Virginia were forced to turn in their own daughter to the police after discovering nude pictures of her in her cellphone and tablet device. According to the girl's mother, her daughter had been sending naked photos of herself to other teens while simultaneously receiving nude pictures of other kids as well. Authorities stated that the parents of the girl found the pictures they discovered to be disturbing, which led them to bring the 13-year-old in to be investigated by sheriff deputies.

The New York State Parole Board has denied the application for parole of Mark David Chapman, the man who killed John Lennon outside the music legend's apartment 34 years ago. In a statement released by the three-member board, Chapman would not live the rest of his life in accordance with the law if he is granted release. The members cited the fact that his release would be "incompatible with the welfare of society". This has been the eighth time Chapman was denied parole. The decision was made after the Wednesday hearing, the officials from New York corrections stated Friday.

A German police officer suspected of murdering a willing victim he became acquainted with over the Internet went to trial on Friday. Authorities claim that the suspect and the deceased met on a cannibalism fetishist's website, in which both purportedly agreed to create a home-made macabre pornographic video. The suspect was arrested in November 2013 after a police search of his garden, in which investigators found the buried chopped-up body of the victim. Local media sources reveal that authorities are yet to locate the genitals of the deceased. Despite the overwhelming evidence, however, the accused stands firm on his stand that he did not murder the victim.

Alaska serial murderer Robert Hansen, also known as the "Butcher Baker", dies on Thursday at Alaska Regional Hospital. According to Alaska Department of Corrections spokesperson Sherrie Daigle, the convicted murderer has been experiencing a decline in his health for the past year. At the time of his death, Hansen was in the middle of serving his 461-year sentence. Initially detained at the Seward state prison, the convicted serial killer was to the Anchorage Correctional Center on May 11, 2014. The decision to move him was rooted from his need to receive medical attention. Information gathered from the Alaska State Troopers reveal, however, that Hansen's file submitted with the agency had a "do not resuscitate" order.

In a decision on Wednesday, the United States Supreme Court issued an order blocking a ruling from an appeals court that struck down the state's ban against same-sex marriage. The pronouncement came after the court approved a stay application, which was filed by opponents of gay and lesbian marriage. The opposition was declared to specifically object the July 28 ruling by the Richmond, Virginia-based 4th US Circuit Court of Appeals.
