China to Accommodate Over 200 More Flights in 2016

China will welcome 200 more international flights next year, a senior aviation official said on Thursday. This move is in line with the government's aim to increase flights with countries involved in China's Belt and Road Initiative.

All flights into and out of Chicago's O'Hare and Midway international airports were grounded early today due to a fire at an air traffic control tower, snarling traffic nationwide ahead of the weekend.

Nearly 1,500 US Flights Canceled Due To Chicago Hub Air Traffic Control Fire

The U.S. air transportation system got a big jolt Friday when a fire at the Chicago air hub's air traffic control section affected air traffic in and out of the area's O'Hare and Midway airports. More than 850 flights through Chicago were canceled, with more expected to be cancelled throughout the day as two of the nation's busiest air facilities were closed. Flights were resuming on a case-by-case basis during the afternoon, but the traffic slowdown affected airports nationwide.
