The action is believed to have been taken after objections from current members regarding Alibaba’s lax attitude towards listing fake goods. However, the real reason concerns irregularity in admitting Alibaba to the group.
Alibaba Reports Higher Earnings, But Misses Forecast

China's biggest e-commerce company Alibaba has reported its fourth quarter earnings at 5.36 billion Yuan ($832 million), up from 2.89 billion Yuan in the corresponding quarter of last year. Its revenue for the quarter stood at 24.18 billion Yuan ($3.75 billion), up 39 percent on a year-on-year basis. The company's gross merchandise volume in China was reported at $115 billion, up 24 percent.

Uber has announced that it is partnering with Alipay to gain a foothold in the lucrative Chinese market. Under the new deal, Chinese users will be able to use their Alipay accounts to settle the fare of their Uber taxi rides anywhere in the world.
