United States President Barack Obama said Sunday that America has underestimated the Islamic State, also know as ISIL or Daesh, and overestimated the capacity of Iraqi forces to fight the terror group.

Syrian President Bashar Assad spoke with an Iraqi security official in Damascus and he said that in order to stop terrorism, countries supporting and financing the rebels in Syria and Iraq should be pressured to stop.

The Islamic State reportedly struck a ceasefire deal with moderate Syrian rebels, despite Syrian force's deepening alliance with the United States in its war against the ISIL. Brokered by Al-Qaeda linked Al-Nusra Front, the deal was aimed at targeting the Syrian government instead, reports said.
