China's anti-corruption watchdog announced on Monday that the former director of an agricultural center pocketed more than 800 million yuan of state funds. The guilty official has been removed from the Chinese Communist Party and is now facing various criminal charges.

A Chinese diplomat said the United States is impeding the nation's anti-corruption efforts, citing the lack of extradition treaty and the prejudices of Western officials which hampered their efforts to retrieve the fugitives they are hunting down.
