Despite the volatility in the Chinese markets, the number of stock market investors in China has soared to 100.4 million in January, according to the China Securities Regulatory Commission.

A stock analyst based in Bangkok predicted over the weekend that Chinese stocks will experience a rally in the last quarter of 2015 in which the Shanghai Index may reach over 4,000 but can drop by as much as half by early next year.

Chinese authorities announced on Monday that several high ranking employees of one of the largest brokerage firm in the country are being probed over allegations that they engaged in insider trading of stocks. The government's move is seen as an indication that it will not hesitate to employ any means at its disposal to prevent the ongoing massive selling of Chinese stocks.
