In a study done by the American Heart Association, a mere can of energy drink can significantly increase the stress hormone levels of a person, thus increasing his or her risk of cardiovascular diseases. The research found that the finding is true for young and healthy adults.

In case energy drinkers didn't realize already, contrary to Red Bull advertising, the caffeine-infused beverage doesn't give them wings. And now, Red Bull is probably going to pay for making that false claim following a consumer class action court settlement Thursday directing the company refunding $10 to each Red Bull drinker. Those filing claims can receive $15 in Red Bull products if they don't want the cash.

Beverage giant Coca-Cola Co. plans to buy a minority stake in energy drink maker Monster Beverage Corp. to strengthen its foothold in that growing market segment, the Los Angeles Times reported.
