Stanislas Wawrinka, the 30-year old World No. 4 from Switzerland, has beaten Novak Djokovic on Sunday to capture the Men’s Single Title at the 2015 French Open. It was the third consecutive game of the tournament where World No. 1 Serena Williams had to persevere and pull through from a first set deficit to stave off elimination. Williams’ compatriot, World No. 42 Sloane Stephens, was unsuccessful in pulling off what could have been the upset of the tournament, and eventually folded to the two-time French Open champion, 6-1, 5-7, 3-6.

World No. 2 Maria Sharapova walked off Court Philippe Chatrier under a chorus of jeers and boos following her dominant first round win over No. 15 ranked Estonian, Kaia Kanepi, 6-2, 6-4 at this year’s French Open.
