Reigning AFC Champions League conquerors and Chinese Super League champion Guangzhou Evergrande has allowed the transfer of their top Brazilian scorer Elkeson to join league rivals Shanghai SIPG in a record deal on Thursday. The move will strengthen Shanghai's line-up and increase the side's chances of continental glory.

The winners of China's Super League for five seasons in a row Guangzhou Evergrande Taobao F.C. have become Asia's first publicly-listed soccer club after the National Equities Exchange and Quotations System, China's New Third Board, approved to list their shares on Friday, Nov. 6.

After spending billions of dollars acquiring technology firms and businesses in China and abroad, e-commerce giant Alibaba Group has paid 1.2 billion yuan (around US $191 million) for a 50 percent stake in China's most successful football club.
