A renowned Islamic scholar and head of a Chicago Islamic school was charged Tuesday, of sexually assaulting a woman who works as a school staff.

Three alleged Islamist militants had been sentenced by a Chinese court for the murder of a state supported imam, as reported by the official Xinhua news agency.

A state-appointed chief imam from China's largest mosque was killed by Muslim Uighurs on Wednesday in what is believed to have been premeditated murder, according to state-run media Tianshen.
