Jon Hamm Released from Rehab Just In Time For ‘Mad Men’ Closing

If there is one thing Jon Hamm and fictional character Don Draper have in common, that would be how they started their careers from scratch. According to PEOPLE, Jon Hamm started his career from nothing and struggled through the years until he landed the role of Don Draper for “Mad Men.” Even in those trying times, Hamm said, he would never change a thing in his past because that’s what made him this day. While doing a press for the final episode of “Mad Men,” Hamm said, “This will be 20 years that I’ve been in Los Angeles, and if you would have told me 20 years ago that I would be sitting here, talking about this, I would have been over the moon.” After revealing his time in rehab for alcohol addiction, Hamm expressed his appreciation for the work he had on “Mad Men,” even acknowledging the long term he has been in the business despite lapses and over the edge drive on the other side. He said, “Not a lot of people in this business get to work this long on something that they can be this proud of.” He may be saying goodbye to his role on ‘Mad Men’ but the lessons it taught him will remain as an inspiration to him. Just in time for the closing of “Mad Men,” Hamm finished his stay in rehab and thanked his friends, family and long time partner Jennifer Westfeldt for their support while he was under treatment. When asked about how he felt about the season ending, he said, “There is no version of this ending that is not super painful to me. Mad Men has been a single constant of my creative life in the last decade, so that’s kind of tough.” According to the Washington Post, not all believed that Jon is all about Don and that his stint in rehab was a “surreal case of life imitating art.”
