Baidu, Nuomi Deny Rumors About Meituan Dianping Merger

Rumors that Baidu is planning to acquire Meituan Dianping have been brewing for quite some time now. Baidu has denounced the rumors, stating that neither it nor its fully owned group-buying firm Nuomi are interested in merging with Meituan Dianping.

Meituan Dianping, China's leading online-to-offline service provider, recently announced that it has received an undisclosed amount of capital from China Resources Group's funding unit. China Resources Group is a state-own conglomerate that aims to help startup businesses by providing capital.

Chinese food delivery startup Meituan-Dianping announced on Tuesday that it has raised a whopping $3.3 Billion in a fresh round of fund raising. By doing so, the company made history as this is perhaps the largest amount raised by an internet startup company in the world.
