China Enters Bottom 5 of the World Press Freedom Index

Mainland China is still at the bottom five with one of the most censored media in the world. International watchdog Reporter Without Borders (RSF) published its annual World Press Freedom Index which ranks 180 countries relative to their freedom of the press.

A day after news came out that Beijing's No. 3 Intermediate People's Court sentence renowned Chinese journalist Gao Yu to seven years prison term, the U.S. and EU immediately reacted on Saturday by asking for a review of the trial.

The Beijing No. 3 Intermediate Court sentenced on Friday to seven years prison term 71-year-old Gao Yu, a known Chinese journalist. She was found guilty of leaking state secrets to people overseas.
