Rafael Nadal Bows Out to Kei Nishikori, Out of Rogers Cup

Three-time Rogers Cup champion Rafael Nadal bowed out of the prestigious tournament Friday against fourth seed Kei Nishikori who trounced the Spaniard 6-2, 6-4. Despite a good comeback win in Hamburg last month, Nadal didn't have much to give against the Japanese whose speed and fiery groundstrokes dominated the match and closed it in just 82 minutes.

It's another ATP title for Rafael Nadal, another trophy bite for the no. 1 seed who ended his ecstatic week in Hamburg by capturing the bet-at-home Open. But his 7-5, 7-5 victory over Fabio Fognini wasn't the only highlight; the Spaniard ended up cramping on court while making his speech during the trophy ceremony.

Rafael Nadal may have started his US Open campaign by playing on clay, but the former no. 1 seems to be doing it just right. On Friday, he defeated Pablo Cuevas 6-3 6-2 to advance to the semifinals of the bet-at-home Open in Hamburg.
