Toyota Recalls Another 5.8 Million Cars over Faulty Takata Airbags

Toyota announced on Wednesday it will call back about 5.8 million cars in Japan, Europe, China, and other countries over Takata's defective air bag inflators, bringing the total number of recalled Toyota vehicles to 23.1 million since the start of Takata scandal.

Japanese automotive maker Mitsubishi will recall more than 7,500 imported Pajero units in China because of a potential airbag system issue, a customer quality watchdog announced on Saturday.

Airbag manufacturer Takata has to pay the U.S. $14,000 per day for dragging its feet in cooperating with a government probe into the firm's defective airbags, U.S. Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx said on Friday.
