There was a noticeable change in tone when Major League Baseball Commissioner Rob Manfred stepped on the plate Tuesday. Expanding the league is among the priorities of Manfred, who said he was looking for more opportunities to invite big cities to put up their own teams.

The long-suffering Chicago Cubs changed managers again Friday naming Joe Maddon as the 54 skipper in club history. Theo Epstein, Cubs president of baseball operations, said he hated to dismiss Rick Renteria after only one year, but did so during a narrow window in which Maddon, a two-time American League manager of the year, was available.
Don Zimmer Dies at 83 After 60-Year Baseball Career

The Tampa Bay Rays had announced that their senior adviser Don Zimmer died on Wednesday in Florida at age 83 after spending more than 60 years in his baseball career.
