Christopher Plummer didn't want to share the spotlight with Julie Andrews because the night was not about him or his character from The Sound of Music, Captain Von Trapp. Thus the reason why Maria's (played by Julie Andrews) dream man was nowhere to be seen at the 50th anniversary tribute to 1965's Best Picture Musical.
