Google’s Improved Safe Browsing Rules Threaten The Pirate Bay

Tech giant Google recently announced that the company would be imposing harsh penalties on "repeat offenders" of its Safe Browsing rules. While this sounds like a noble undertaking to cut down malicious websites, it is also threatening one specific type of website: torrent indexers.

Tech giant Google is giving out warnings to its massive user base to stay away from the infamous torrent indexing website The Pirate Bay. Googe claims that using services such as The Pirate Bay may cause irreparable personal computers.

The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) reportedly sent a formal letter to the Public Interest Registry (PIR) seeking the suspension of the domain used by popular torrent website The Pirate Bay over copyright infringement.

The verdict for The Pirate Bay's .se domain will be decided by the Stockholm District Court next week.
