The U.S.-led airstrikes mounted against the Islamic State in Syria over the weekend took down several IS targets, but Kurd fighters say the strikes do very little in pushing back the militants as they zero in on a key territory near the Turkish border.

At least two civilians died after airstrikes mounted by the U.S.-led coalition against the Islamic State in Syria hit grain silos, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said Monday, citing that coalition pilots may have mistaken the facility as an Islamic State command post.

United States President Barack Obama said Sunday that America has underestimated the Islamic State, also know as ISIL or Daesh, and overestimated the capacity of Iraqi forces to fight the terror group.
