Many Africans, who survived the deadly Ebola, now have to contend with prolonged pains in their joints. The World Health Organization announced on Friday that Ebola survivors also face the possibility of going blind due to serious inflammation in their eyes.

Two months after Liberia was declared virus-free, Ebola re-emerged in one of the three worst-struck nations in West Africa. Based on the data provided by the World Health Organization (WHO), a total of 30 confirmed cases were documented in the past weeks — 3 in Liberia, 18 in Guinea and 9 in Sierra Leone. Now, the number of cases in Liberia has risen to 6.

The dreaded Ebola virus is not just an extremely fatal type of virus that can affect humans. It also has no cure and no real vaccine. But based on a recent study published in the Journal of Clinical Investigation, a new type of vaccine, which can be inhaled to activate immune cells, can provide protection against the Ebola virus.
