China giving a tough fight to U.S. and Japan in Patent Application, WIPO Survey Claims

China's patent applications in 2016 zoomed by whooping 45 percent, according to the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO), putting the Asian giant well on the course to surpass Japan and U.S. to emerge as largest user of the international patent system.

Patent applications abroad from Japan, Germany and France were each larger than those from China.

The latest figures on China's patent registration suggest that last year it was the most innovative country in the world, outpacing technically advanced countries such U.S, Japan and Canada. These figures were brought forth by a new report by World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).
