Chengdu Shelter Offers Refuge for Victims of Domestic Violence

A shelter for victims of domestic violence will begin operation next month in Chengdu, Sichuan province. The facility will offer lodging and accomodation for up to 10 days to adults and children, who are victims of domestic abuse and do not have a place to stay. The shelter will also help residents the victims get in touch with helpful government agencies.

A new law against domestic violence in China was approved on Sunday after seven long days of deliberations by the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress. Now, it has been revealed that the cause of the delay was reportedly questions over the correct definition on what constitutes a "family member" and "domestic violence."

Two more women were found hanged on trees in Uttar Pradesh, India, while another alleges that she was gang raped in a police station.
