SuperD D1: All-in-One Smartphone Supports 2D, 3D, and Virtual Reality

(Photo : Twitter) The SuperD D1 smartphone, which supports 2D, 3D, and virtual reality, is set to hit the market on Sept. 22.

Shenzhen-based smartphone manufacturer SuperD has launched a new phone that supports 2D, 3D, and virtual reality. Dubbed as the SuperD D1, the smartphone is bundled with a virtual reality goggle to give users a complete VR experience.

The D1 is SuperD's first product. The smartphone comes with a 5.5-inch Full HD display with 1920 x 1080 resolution.

Powering the SuperD D1 is a MediaTek MT6750T chipset, according to Giz China. The D1 comes in two variants with different memory sizes and storage space configuration. One model has 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage space, while the other model sports 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage space.

Both models of the SuperD D1 run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow mobile operating system. The device sports a 13-megapixel rear facing main camera and an 8-megapixel front facing selfie shoot. Both models also have a 3000mAh battery pack.

The SuperD D1 has been billed as an all-in-one smartphone. The smartphone can be switched into three different modes depending on the user's needs. These modes are 2D, 3D, and VR. The D1 sports a specially designed cylindrical grating LCD screen, which allows users to real 3D and VR renders without the need to wear 3D glasses.

Regarding its price, the base model of the SuperD D1 with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage space costs $199. The upgraded model with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage space costs $233. Pre-orders for the smartphone starts on Sept. 12, with its official release date slated for Sept. 22.
