The Foton Pilipinas Tornadoes are expected to encounter a much tougher opponent when they face the Ba'yi Shenzhen volleyball team of China in their sudden-death quarterfinal showdown of the ongoing 2016 Asian Women's Club Championship at the Alonte Sports Arena in Binan Laguna, the Philippines on Friday.

According to The Manila Times, following their impressive 3-0 straight-set triumph in their opening game against Kwai Tsing of Hong Kong, the Tornadoes suffered a heart-breaking 3-2 loss to the Lien Viet Post Bank of Vietnam in their second game. The Philippine team failed to bounce back after their first loss as they endured another setback in the hands of the NEC Red Rockets of Japan with a disappointing 3-0 defeat.

In their fourth match of the tourney, the hosts were unable to improve their record as they were beaten by Altay Oskemen of Kazakhstan in another 3-0 loss even after American reinforcement Lindsay Stalzer returned to action after being sidelined with a back spasm during their match against Japan.

With these string of losses, the Tornadoes are set to face the top-seeded and undefeated Ba'yi Shenzhen. The Chinese volleyball team defeated Bangkok Glass of Thailand with an epic 3-2 five-set showdown.

With 23-year-old wing spiker Liu Yanhan running the show, Ba'yi Shenzhen is said to be the strongest participating team in this Asian tournament as its core is composed of the second team of the Chinese national women's volleyball squad.
