FIBA Asia Challenge 2016: India Upsets China to Keep Quarterfinals Hope Alive

The formidable Chinese men's national basketball team suffered a stunning 70-64 loss at the hands of the 53rd ranked India at the ongoing 2016 FIBA Asia Challenge in Tehran, Iran on Tuesday.
China committed 22 turnovers and was outrebounded by the Indians during the game. India grabbed a team-combined 45 boards while China managed to pull down a total of 37 rebounds.

The Sat Prakash Yadav-headed national squad dominated the shaded area, scoring 46 points in the paint compared to China's 28. India also got the better of the Chinese in defense with 11 steals.
According to The Asian Age, the much lower ranked Indian national team also beat the Chinese team at the FIBA Asia Cup two years ago. With the victory, India's hope to enter the quarterfinal round remains alive.
India's 6-foot-9-inches tall center Amritpal Singh led the national squad with a remarkable double-double performance of 23 points and 14 rebounds along with three steals and three blocked shots. The 25-year-old Indian basketball player went 10 for 18 from the field to steer his team to their second victory in four games played in the tournament.
Forwards Amjyot Singh and Vishesh Bhriguvanshi contributed 16 points and 14 points respectively for the winners, who will be facing Kazakhstan in their next game.
Hu Jinqiu,18, paced the Chinese national team with 19 points and nine rebounds while He Tianju contributed 12 markers and two boards. China will next face the Chinese Taipei team.
