China's tech giant Huawei is gearing up to the challenge of toppling Samsung and Apple to become the best in the game via the release of Mate 9 smartphone.

The Chinese smartphone manufacturer has hinted that its new flagship smartphone will feature top-of-the-line features, which include an iris scanner, powerful camera sensors and several hardware improvements that can give Samsung's and Apple's flagship devices a run for their money.

Recent reports from local Chinese news outlets revealed that the Huawei Mate 9 will be packed with two 20-megapixel rear-facing main cameras in dual configuration. This specific setup was reportedly made ito directly challenge the camera specs of the recently released Apple iPhone 7.

Meanwhile, in competing with Samsung Galaxy Note 7, Huawei is throwing in an iris scanner embedded on the front panel of the Mate 9.

Regarding its specs under the hood, the Mate 9 will use its wholly developed Kirin 960 chipset from HiSilicon, a company fully-owned by Huawei. The Mate 9 is also expected to run on Android 7.0 Nougat.

Three models of the Mate 9 are expected to hit the market, each of which are slated for different market segments.

According to Techno Buffalo, the entry level model is expected to feature an impressive combination of 4GB memory and 64GB storage space for the price of around $479. It will be available in three colors: gold, gray and silver.

The mid-tiered model of the Huawei Mate 9, in the meantime, will be packed with 128GB storage space and the same 4GB memory setup. In addition to the three previously mentioned color options, this model will also come in rose gold and white ceramic variants. It will cost around $509.

On the other hand, the premium model of the Huawei Mate 9 will have a massive 6GB memory and 256GB storage space for a price tag of $700. It will come as well in light black color, aside from the available colors of the two other models.
