Japanese car maker Toyota will call back 762 imported vehicles in China from Nov. 1 because of faulty airbags, according to the country's quality watchdog.
The recall will affect 566 imported Lexus RX200t units manufactured from Oct. 7, 2015 to June 27, 2016 and 196 imported Lexus RX450h vehicles made between Dec. 4, 2014 and March 4, 2016, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine announced.

Authorities have discovered a defect on the gas generators of the faulty airbags, and this may pose safety hazards to passengers.
The company said the defective parts will be replaced for free.
Just last week, the company also recalled 142,492 imported vehicles due to a similar problem. A defect in the gas generating agent has been found causing gas generators to get damaged if airbags are inflated.
The recall affected 26,468 Lexus IS models produced between Jan. 26, 2006 and Dec. 27, 2011; 112, 825 Lexus ES sedans produced from Dec. 12, 2005 to Dec. 28, 2011; and 3,299 Lexus GX460 SUVs made between Dec. 1, 2010 and Dec. 28, 2011, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine said in a statement.
Meanwhile, Toyota is plans to establish a Southeast Asian hybrid electric vehicle battery manufacturing plant to cut down production costs and cater the growing demand for PHEVs.
According to Wards Auto, the car maker is teaming up with Corun PEVE Automotive Battery to put up a plant in China to make lithium-ion batteries for hybrid vehicles. It will also partner with Japan's Primearth EV Energy to get its PHEV batteries.
Other than Japan, Toyota has set up PHEV assembly facilities in China, India, Malaysia, Taiwan, and Thailand. Prius' manufacturing base is in China.
