Elephone said that it will be the first smartphone manufacturer to sell devices that run on the Helio P20 chipset. Although this sounds like a long shot especially now that MediaTek is being tapped by more manufacturers as well, Elephone is well-situated to be among the biggest manufacturers of smartphones using MediaTek's chipsets.

According to Giz China, MediaTek's Helio P10 chipset is a well-balanced piece of hardware. Many tech analysts, though, would agree that its successor, the Helio P20, is much well equipped with the needed features and computing power to run a premium-tiered smartphone model.

The new chipset is expected to bring better energy efficiency with its 16nm FinFET technology, which could essentially mean less power consumption and improved battery life.

The Helio P20 chipset also supports LPDDR4X memory modules, which, in theory, is up to 25 percent better than the current models. The Cortex A53 cores, which are clocked at 2.3GHz, along with the new Mali T880 graphics processing unit, are also expected to offer significant computing improvements than the current ones.

The MediaTek Helio P20 chipset is also expected to support camera resolution of up to 24-megapixel, or two 13-megapixel cameras in dual configuration. While the P20 chipset does look interesting on paper, Elephone is still tasked to make the most of it to ensure that its upcoming smartphone models will stand above the rest.
