New 2017 Ford F-150 Packs More Horsepower

Auto manufacturer Ford recently revealed the changes that the company has made to the 2017 F-150 Raptor, which is expected to hit the showrooms later this year.

Ford confirmed that the upcoming generation of the F-150 Raptor will be lighter, and will pack more power compared to its predecessors, as it boasts of 450 horsepower and 510 pound-feet worth of torque.

The high-performance new F-150 Raptor is a custom version of the 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 engine, which has its own set of turbo chargers, oil-cooled pistons and dual exhaust setup. All these new upgrades are courtesy of the company's highly-regarded Ford Performance division.

According to Fox News, the output of the new 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor marks a significant leap compared to the old V8 engine which packs 411 horsepower and 434 pound-feet torque. In terms of weight reduction, the new F-150 Raptor sheds 500 pounds of its weight because of the new aluminum material used to build it.

The Ford Raptor brand is not entirely known for its fuel economy. However, Ford's new 10-speed automatic transmission may have made a dent into this specific area of concern. The new 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor has an upgraded EPA rating of 16mpg from 13mpg combined.

The 10-speed automatic transmission with the trucks 4x4 drive of the truck has six driving modes ranging from normal street driving to mud driving, rock crawling and the aptly-named Baja, which is for high speed runs.

The 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor will have a starting price tag of $49, 520.
