China's Oppo is set to unveil its flagship smartphone Oppo R9s in China, as the company sent out invitations on Saturday to Chinese media for a launch event on October 19 in Shanghai.
The Oppo R9s is no secret as it has already appeared in Oppo's recent commercial in China. The fancy press invite boxes has a replica of a Sony IMX398 camera sensor, emphasizing the phone's main highlight, Gadgets 360 reported.

Meanwhile, leaks suggest that the new Oppo R9s will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 CPU processor with 4GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage, the Android Authority reported. It will sport a 5.5 inch full HD 1080p display and a 3010 mAh battery with VOOC fast charging technology.
What's more, it will come with a Sony IMX398 sensor, which is 98 more than the IMX300 imager Sony installs on its cutting edge Xperias, GSM Arena noted. Sources reveal that the sensor has a 16-megapixel "dual pixel" technology with f/1.7 apertrure, which is similar to that of in Samsung Galaxy S7. Earlier claims also reveal the front cam will be a 13-megapixel offering.
Meanwhile, GSM Arena also leaked that Oppo is likely to launch another variant - Oppo R9s Plus. Although the said variant is nowhere to be found in the invite box, the Oppo R9s Plus was reportedly spotted in a Chinese TV sport broadcast only in China. Hence, it is not clear if we'll be seeing both variants in the event or possibly at another date.
