The highly-anticipated PlayStation VR port "Thumper" will be released way ahead of its original schedule.

"Thumper" developers confirmed on Monday that they will be releasing the game in advance "to surprise and reward" those who have been waiting for its availability.

With its official release, "Thumper" will be one of the very first PlayStation VR games to be made available on Sony's online marketplace. The game even predates the PlayStation VR virtual reality headset itself.

"Thumper" was developed and published by Drool, a two-man team composed of Marc Flury and Brian Gibson. It features a fast-paced game where players are tasked to guide a space beetle on an almost surrealistic adventure by pressing the right button in sync with the beat.

Much of the game's dynamics rely on the background music which also adds a multi-sensory experience for the gamer. "Thumper" is also the first video game title to take advantage of the new hardware upgrades featured on the new PlayStation 4 Pro console.

In a statement acquired by Digital Trends, Flurry said, "We're excited to announce Thumper will support PS4 Pro from Day one."

"We've worked hard to perfect Thumper's graphics tech and extra power lets us push our original vision even further," he added.

Flurry confirmed that "Thumper" is capable of rendering up to 4K resolution without the need of upscaling.

With the upgraded hardware of the PlayStation Pro, Drool promises an immersive virtual reality rendering while maintaining an impressive 90 frames-per-second frame rate.

"Thumper" is currently exclusive for the PlayStation VR. The game is priced at $20 and is available on the PlayStation Network and Steam as of Monday night.
