It appeared that Toyota is not just relocating its United States headquarters from its current location in Southern California to Texas, as the company is overhauling is entire operation in the region.

Toyota North American chief executive officer Jim Lentz said that as part of this overhaul, the automaker recently announced that it is hiring 1,000 workers as it transitions to Texas.

In a statement acquired by USA Today, Lentz said, "Most everyone, when they think of Toyota, they think of a single company in the US, and we are really not."

"We are a group of affiliated companies working together," he added.

Toyota first announced its plan to relocate the company's operations from Torrance, California to Plano way back in 2014. The decision came after a long deliberation that maintaining three separate operation hubs located in California, Northern Kentucky and Michigan is taking up too much resources.

Recently, reports revealed that at least 100 employees are moving in to the Texas hub every month. By 2017, Lentz shard, at least 1,800 employees will be working on the new headquarters already, with the aim to raise it to more than 4,000 employees.

Toyota's decision to restructure its North American business synchronizes as well with how the company operates its international business.

Back in 2009 and 2010, Toyota was not able to contain the massive recall revolving around the sudden acceleration of its vehicles. Following the crisis, Toyota decided to overhaul its management and give regional management teams autonomy on decision making policies.
