Trend Micro encourages users to update Adobe Flash Player to keep malicious users from exploiting the vulnerability, and therefore, compromise their computers.
The patch fixes exploit CVE-2016-7855, which allows hackers to inject malicious codes on a target computer using a Flash file.
The code can remotely install malwares that can grant hackers full administrator access to the target computer. Adobe tagged the exploit "critical," hence the urgency of the patch.
Based on the bulletin posted by Adobe, hackers can exploit the vulnerability in limited and targeted attacks. Among the target computers are those running on Windows 7, Windows 8.1 and Windows 10. Adobe said that no reports of attacks targeting Linux and Mac devices, but the company is releasing the patch for those platforms nonetheless.
In a statement acquired by Digital Trends, Trend Micro said, "The versions of Flash that are integrated into Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge/Internet Explorer will receive updates via the update mechanisms of those browsers."
The newly released patch will update Adobe Flash Player to version 232.0.0.205 for the Windows, Mac and Chrome OS platforms, and version 11.2.202.643 for the Linux platform.
It will also update the Adobe Flash Player Desktop Runtime, Adobe Flash Player for Google Chrome and Chrome OS, Adobe Flash Player for Linux, and Adobe Flash Payer for Microsoft Edge and Internet Explorer.
