Germany's reigning world No. 1 Angelique Kerber made her way to the championship round of the ongoing 46^th edition of the WTA Finals women's singles after successfully knocking off No. 3 Agnieszka Radwanska in two sets with ease of their semifinals match on Saturday at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore.

Kerber, who has not yet lost a match in the tournament this year, easily claimed the opening set with a 6-2 win to take on an early advantage going to the second game.

The German tennis star won it easier with a 6-1 triumph over the event's defending titleholder in the second set to wrap up the victory and take the first ticket to the finals.

"I'm really happy to being in the final here for my first time," the 28-year-old Kerber, who smoothened her head-to-head matchup record against Radwanska to six wins eeach, said after the match. 

"It's the last tournament, and of course to finish with a final it's great," the Australian Open and US Open champion added. "I remember the last year how I was finishing here, so this is big improvement." 

It will be the furthest Kerber has reached in competing for the prestigious tennis event. The German player never advanced from the round robin phase of the competition in her previous participations in the years 2012, 2013 and 2015.

According to The Guardian, Kerber will be facing Dominika Cibulkova of Slovakia in the championship stage of the WTA's season ending event. Cibulkova advanced to the finals following her hard-fought 1-6, 7-6 (7-2), 6-4 come from behind victory over Svetlana Kuznetsova of Russia.

The upcoming finals showdown between Angelique Kerber and Cibulkova at the WTA Finals will be their 10th official meeting, with Kerber having a 5-4 lead in their head-to-head matchup record. Kerber recently defeated Cibulkova in their opening match during the round robin phase last Sunday.
