Mozilla is launching a new app called Firefox Focus exclusively for the iOS platform. The new browser brings in new features for secure and private web browsing experience.

The browser industry, especially on the iOS platform, is rather dictated by Apple itself. A fact that has made it hard for third-party players to dominate the said platform.

However, Mozilla is embracing a different strategy with the release of Firefox Focus. Mozilla is marketing its new product as a "second browser" or an alternative to the default Safari web browser integrated into the iOS operating system, according to The Guardian. By integrating privacy-oriented features into the Firefox Focus, Mozilla is hoping that the browser will be a go-to alternative for iOS users who are looking to browse the Internet with more privacy.

Firefox Focus is a very simple browser. The app opens straight into the search bar and uses Yahoo for those in the United States, while Google is the default search engine for users in the United Kingdom. The option to change the default search engine is still unavailable, although Mozilla confirmed that the feature will be activated in the future.

Like browsing in incognito mode, Firefox Focus does not save any data that could be traced back to the user. According to The Wall Street Journal, browsing history, passwords, and other login credentials are not stored into Focus.

Data like cookies, analytics tracker, ad trackers, and social media trackers are permanently disabled. Moreover, there is an Erase button located on the top right corner of the app that allows users to easily clear any information in just a single tap. By default, Firefox Focus also doubles as a content blocker, allowing users to block tracking services and targeted advertisements.
