According to BadmintonPlanet, unlike in Fuzhou, the newly crowned China Open champion will be entering the USD 400,000 badminton event as an unseeded player. Sindhu may have the chance of facing the current world No. 1 Carolina Marin in the Hong Kong-based Superseries event.

Sindhu and Marin battled each other in the last Summer Olympic Games championship round. The two-time European champion emerged as the winner to claim the highest honor in the women's singles event in Rio de Janeiro.

According to the official website of the BWF, Sindhu is scheduled to play the 23-year-old Susanto Yulia Yosephin of Indonesia in her opener. The Indonesian shuttler who currently ranks No. 119 in the world recently reached the quarterfinals of the USM Victor International Challenge.

The 21-year-old who is looking to qualify for next month's Dubai World Super Series Finals said she has her sights set at the Super Series Finals, but the Hong Kong Open will be her main focus for now.

"I am looking forward to a great performance in Hong Kong, although I don't know much about the ranking points are," Sindhu said.
